- Choosing An Instrument
- Note: All students must have an instrument whether rented, bought or borrowed from me. (I only have wind instruments for borrowing purposes).
- NOTE: New Students are encouraged to take private lessons to catch up with the rest of the group. You are a year or two behind the rest of the band. You will be much more successful this way.
- Deciding which instrument to choose can be a hard choice. At the middle school we offer students the opportunity to play ……
- Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone and Percussion Instruments (Snare Drums/Bells/Etc. for their own instrument all percussionists should own a bell kit., mallets, sticks and a practice pad)
- As students develop their ability we also offer …….
- Tenor Sax, Bass Clarinet, French Horn, Baritone Horn, and Tuba. (Oboe and Bassoon also Excepted)
- As a teacher my goal is to help students find instruments that they enjoy playing as well as trying to create a group that has a balanced sound including all the different instruments. If rental or purchase is an issue I have several wind instruments available for students who exhibit financial or other need.
- Please note the percussion contract. One instrument that we have had an excess of is percussion. Do to the current amount of drummers as well as the volume of the instrument. I encourage any percussion students interested in switching to a wind instrument to do so. I have some instruments available based on the need of the student and will help students adjust to a new instrument if they like. Students already playing wind instruments who want to switch specifically to drums must see me at the start of the school year to do so. I may not have room and students interested in doing so must pass the percussion test.
- Note: We will be taking approximately twenty percussionists to six flags per year. If this is important to you please be aware before you choose percussion.
